TAPE SHIFTA is a small project born out of necessity, a desire and an attempt to chronicle the revolutionary tradition and beauty of Eritrean and North East African Music. Capturing the soundtrack of a revolution is no easy task - none of this is possible without the help of community. I want to thank my friends for their feedback and constructive criticism and Baba Michael Keleta for helping me with the translation. project: TAPE SHIFTA is dedicated to the masses who have been fighting for the freedom of the Eritrean people - then and now.
